OUR VISION
To provide students with the opportunity to learn about current job challenges in various fields (medicine, research, IT, economics, society, community work, volunteering, etc.), both in Slovakia and abroad. To motivate them to work hard on gaining the knowledge and skills needed for their future career and to study foreign languages - an important tool of communication in today's global world.
OUR VALUES
We focus on the student - they should benefit from the choice of speakers in both, professional and human way. Not only should our speakers manifest expertise, but they should also present moral values, the attitude of integrity and respect towards others. We also aim to promote students' awareness and active participation in global issues (e.g. environmental issues, poverty) by giving space to organizations and initiatives which actively contribute to the improvement of those issues.
THE CONFERENCE
There are 10 speakers, experts in their fields, who present at the conference. These people, many of whom are our former students; share their stories, first- hand experience and challenges of the field they work in with our students. The
whole conference is in English, the talks range from lectures, case studies, discussions to workshops. Students can use the opportunity to talk to our speakers during the talks or breaks.
In 2017, the English language teachers at our school decided to create a platform that would allow our students to experience today's job challenges through real people's stories and experience; people who have succeeded in various fields or who are fighting to raise awareness about the most pending issues today (ranging from social justice, equality or poverty to ecology). So we have come up with the idea of a conference, where real people become teachers to our students, people with first-hand experience. Altogether, 37 people have presented at Taste the Future in the past years, and you can find a list of them here:
